South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his team will kick off their 2024 season with a home contest at Williams-Brice Stadium against the Old Dominion Monarchs on August 31st. The game will mark the start of a big year in Columbia in which the Gamecocks find themselves at the 2024-shaped fork in the road between real SEC contention and the wheels falling off.

However, some fun news broke on Monday that will give Gamecock fans something to do the night before the season begins.

SEC Shorts is coming to Columbia, South Carolina for a live version of their show. On Friday night, August 30th, the Koger Performing Arts Center in downtown Columbia (just a short drive from Williams-Brice Stadium) will play host to the SEC Shorts team. The doors will open at 6:30 PM ET, and the event will begin at 7:30 PM ET.

The show won't just be the recordings of the short videos South Carolina football fans have seen on social media. There will be multiple skits and sketches, and the entire night is family-friendly. The show will be in Columbia just for one night.

While the SEC Shorts videos tackle SEC football news (both positive and negative) from the perspective of every team in the conference, the Gamecock Faithful are hopeful that their favorite team will be on the receiving end of positive reviews and a favorable grade on their season report card at the end of the year.

Beamer and the Gamecocks have had their preseason projections all over the place this summer. Reasonable views of the team have come from local and national outlets predicting records anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4 for the 2024 season, and if things go really well, the ceiling for Carolina could be high enough to propel USC into the realm of national relevancy again.
