SEC announces five South Carolina football stars on preseason coaches All-SEC teams

On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference announced its 2024 preseason coaches All-SEC teams, and five South Carolina football stars made the cut as long snapper Hunter Rogers, running back Rocket Sanders, linebacker Debo Williams, defensive lineman Tonka Hemingway, and defensive back Nick Emmanwori received the honor from the league's coaches.

Hunter Rogers has made virtually every preseason All-SEC honor out there this offseason and has even gotten some All-American buzz. He was an All-SEC performer in 2023, as well. He was chosen for the 1st team.

Rocket Sanders, who made the All-SEC and All-American teams in 2022 as a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks, is looking to bounce back from some injuries he endured last year. The league's coaches seem to think he will do just that as they put him on the preseason All-SEC 2nd team.

Another 2nd teamer, linebacker Debo Williams is one of the top returning tacklers in the conference. As one of the top run defenders in America in 2023, he was an All-SEC player, and he has worked hard to improve against the pass this offseason.

Versatile defensive lineman Tonka Hemingway made the preseason 3rd team (there are no positional distinctions on the defensive line). He has received some All-SEC honors over the past two years and will be a major piece for the 2024 version of the Gamecock defense.

The fifth preseason coaches All-SEC player from the South Carolina football program is defensive back Nick Emmanwori. He plays multiple positions but is expected to spend most of his time at safety this year, though, the preseason All-SEC team does not distinguish between corners, safeties, and nickels.

Offensive lineman Vershon Lee, defensive lineman TJ Sanders, and punter Kai Kroeger have gotten some preseason All-SEC love, but they did not make the team that was voted on by the conference's coaches. Offensive lineman Josiah Thompson and EDGE Dylan Stewart have made several preseason Freshman All-American and preseason Freshman All-SEC teams but were not included on the coaches team.
