South Carolina Football vs. Kentucky:
Grades for the Coaches, Fans, and Special Teams

FANS. A. South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Kentucky Wildcats. South Carolina was on the road on Saturday, so a fan grade is based, primarily, on social media and postgame reactions. Because things went well on the field, the majority of the USC fanbase was happy. There was some angst online during a poor offensive 1st half (frankly, rightfully so), but there also was a large number of fans who willingly "at crow" after offering up bad takes following the Old Dominion game. The garnet and black faithful seem pumped up for next week's matchup with LSU, and the Gamecocks will need them.. FANS

First, the negative: offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains didn't have the greatest game, especially in the 1st half, though he did make some adjustments and had a nice call on a touchdown pass to Josh Simon. Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis also caught his head coach's ire after he had to burn a timeout because only 10 men were on the field for a field goal try. On the positive side of things, defensive coordinator Clayton White and his unit had a great game, and he threw a few different looks at Kentucky, and all of them worked. Shane Beamer also handled some questions surrounding his relationship with Kentucky and Mark Stoops maturely after the game.. COACHING. COACHING. B. South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Kentucky Wildcats

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Kentucky Wildcats. In what was close to an A-grade, the Gamecocks get dinged a little bit for the mental error of not getting 11 men on the field in time to kick a field goal in the 1st half. There were also several instances in which the kickoff unit did a great job of hemming in dangerous return men Barion Brown and Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, the Gamecocks allowed the players to squirt through for extra yardage. However, the rest of the special teams play was good as Kai Kroeger had a nice day, and Alex Herrera made all of his kicks.. SPECIAL TEAMS. SPECIAL TEAMS. B+
