The South Carolina football program has two commitments in the class of 2026 (the number dropped from three recently when 4-star quarterback Landon Duckworth backed off of his Gamecock pledge). 4-star linebacker Rodney Colton and in-star offensive lineman Anthony Baxter are the two future Gamecocks already in the class, but USC has made moves to put themselves in solid position with multiple other prospects in the '26 cycle.

One of the Gamecocks' top targets in the class is wide receiver Jordon Gidron. A consensus 4-star prospect from Columbia, Gidron is one of the most sought-after pass-catchers in the country. However, according to Gidron, himself, the hometown school is right in the thick of things in his recruitment.

On Friday, Jordan Gidron trimmed his list of favorite schools down to 12. The South Carolina Gamecocks, Auburn Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, NC State Wolfpack, Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, Tennessee Volunteers, and Miami Hurricanes have separated themselves in Gidron's recruitment.

As a player, the Ridge View High School product has the potential to be a special talent at the college level. With nice size (listed at 6'2") and speed (winning multiple state championships in track and field), Gidron has been an elite downfield threat during his time in high school. With two more years of prep ball (and physical development) before he makes it to college, the sky is the limit for him.

Gidron is not just a straight-line sprinter and jump ball player, however, He has good quickness, and on film, there are plenty of instances in which his change-of-direction ability is what sprung a big play. If he adds a little bit of weight, Gidron profiles very similarly to a more polished version of Xavier Legette (who primarily was a high school quarterback) coming out of high school. Putting future 1st round pick expectations on Gidron would not be fair, but he has an extremely high upside.

You can watch some of his film here.
