Lamont Paris' South Carolina basketball team learns ACC/SEC Challenge draw

En route to their 26-8 season last year, Lamont Paris and his South Carolina basketball team won the Gamecocks' first-ever ACC/SEC Challenge game by handling the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with relative ease at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.

On Wednesday, news dropped regarding who USC would match up with in next season's ACC/SEC Challenge. First reported by CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, South Carolina basketball will play the Boston College Eagles in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts as part of the 2024-2025 out-of-conference schedule.

The Challenge will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd and Wednesday, December 4th of 2024. Eight of the games will be played on Tuesday, while the remaining six will be on Wednesday. South Carolina-Boston College will tip on Tuesday. Television/streaming and game time information will be known at a later date.

The two teams have squared off three times with the Gamecocks taking the first meeting back in the 1970s, and the Eagles winning the second and third games in a home-and-home series during the Darrin Horn era in Columbia.

Last year, BC had a solid season as the Eagles went 20-16 thanks to three postseason wins in the ACC Tournament and NIT. They spent part of the year on the March Madness bubble but had their bubble burst after a 4-8 stretch through the gauntlet that is the ACC schedule.

The entire 2024-2025 ACC/SEC Challenge slate is listed below (because the ACC has two more schools than the SEC, the SMU Mustangs and Stanford Cardinal drew the short straw and will not be included in this year's Challenge):
