A'ja Wilson's Top-5 Moments with South Carolina Basketball:
No. 3: Staying Alive

Everyone remembers that the South Carolina Gamecocks were the 2016-2017 National Champions. Most even remember that the Gamecocks beat Stanford in the Final Four and Mississippi State in the title game. However, there are plenty of fans who forgot that the Gamecocks nearly lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament that year.

In the Round of 32 game at Colonial Life Arena, Arizona State led by 6 at halftime and by as many as 11 points in the 3rd quarter. The Gamecocks came storming back, though, behind the team's terrific group of Wilson, Allisha Gray, Kaela Davis, and Doniyah Cliney. The four Gamecocks scored or assisted on every point the team scored the rest of the way, but none were bigger than the ones dropped in by #22 in the final minute.

With USC trailing 68-67, Wilson drove the lane and got fouled. However, no whistle was blown. Even so, Wilson kept going, following her shot with a putback through contact. The bucket in the lane put Carolina up by 1. Then, after the Gamecocks forced a turnover, they got the ball to their captain. Wilson took an intentional foul and sunk both shots from the charity stripe.

The 3-point lead forced the Sun Devils to take a 3-point jumper on the other end, and Wilson snatched the rebound at the final buzzer to keep her team alive on the way to their first title. She finished the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks to lead all players in all three categories.
