Corey Miller is one of the best defensive players ever to suit up for the South Carolina football program. Having stuck around in Columbia after retiring from the NFL, Miller also is a fan favorite of the Gamecock Faithful. Voted into the University of South Carolina Hall of Fame in 2022, Miller revealed recently that another honor is headed his way soon.

On his personal social media accounts, Miller announced that USC Athletics Director Ray Tanner called to inform him that he will be the South Carolina Gamecocks' representative in the 2024 class of SEC Legends.

Though he never played in the Southeastern Conference (his South Carolina football career ended after the 1990 season, two years before the Gamecocks joined the league), because he is a legend of a school currently in the SEC, he is eligible for the honor.

During his time playing for the Gamecocks, Miller was a hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end. Despite being asked to wear multiple hats for Sparky Woods' defenses, Miller was one of just fifteen players ever to log at least 7 sacks in his Gamecock career and ranks in the top-25 in program history in the stat. He made two separate All-Independent teams in 1989 and 1990.

After a 9-year career in the NFL with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings, Miller came back to South Carolina and worked in both radio and television sports media while also serving as an ordained minister. Nicknamed the "Pastor of Pain," Miller now hosts a sports show with his son Christian.

Miller and the other SEC Legends will be honored during a ceremony at the 2024 SEC Championship Game. He joins a long list of former Gamecocks as SEC Legends, including well-known names like George Rogers, Marcus Lattimore, Sterling Sharpe, Alshon Jeffery, and John Abraham.
