South Carolina basketball has less than two months from the start of their 2024-2025 season as they open play against the Michigan Wolverines with a neutral site game in Las Vegas. The Gamecocks are the betting favorite to win their fourth National Championship since the 2016-2017 campaign, while no other team in the country has won multiple titles in the same stretch.

Gamecock coach Dawn Staley does not have a commitment yet in the high school class of 2025, but as usual, the Gamecocks are in the running for some of the top players in the country.

One Gamecocks target, 5-star guard Divine Bourrage from Davenport, Iowa, announced her commitment on Thursday afternoon, but it was not to the South Carolina basketball program.

Instead, immediately coming off of an official visit to the Bayou, Bourrage announced on Instagram her pledge to the rival LSU Tigers over the South Carolina Gamecocks, Virginia Tech Hokies, Baylor Bears, Illinois Fighting Illini, and Arizona Wildcats.

There is no reason to panic for Carolina fans as Dawn Staley has plenty of time to figure things out for the '25 cycle, and the Gamecocks have tons of young talent remaining on their roster.

Class of 2025 prospects like Aaliyah Chavez, Zakiyah Johnson, Agot Makeer, Emilee Skinner, and Jaida Civil are among the players still being pursued by Staley and her coaching staff. All of those players are elite recruits according to ESPN HoopGurlz's recruiting rankings (all inside the top-40).

The Gamecocks also still have five players (MiLaysia Fulwiley, Tessa Johnson, Joyce Edwards, Adhel Tac, and Maddy McDaniel) who are freshmen or sophomores heading into this season, so a big recruiting class isn't 100% necessary for USC. The transfer portal also has been friendly to the Gamecocks in recent seasons as Coach Staley has found the exact pieces her team has needed without losing much outgoing talent.
