Four student-athletes from SEC schools have been selected by their peers to hold leadership roles in the SEC Leadership Councils following recent meetings at the SEC offices.
South Carolina’s Oscar Adaway III and Vanderbilt’s Bryan Longwell were appointed Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the SEC Football Leadership Council. Meanwhile, Alabama’s Barry Evans and Texas’ Ethan Doehler were chosen as Chair and Vice Chair of the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
Adaway, from North Little Rock, Ark., played in 13 games for the Gamecocks last season, earning two starts. In the Citrus Bowl against Illinois, he scored a 36-yard touchdown run. This marks his first year on the SEC Football Leadership Council.
Longwell, a native of Nashville, Tenn., is serving in his second year on the SEC Football Leadership Council. In 2024, he played in all 13 games for Vanderbilt and led the team with 89 tackles.
Evans, a sophomore from Mascoutah, Ill., is returning as SAAC Chair for a second year. Last year, he participated in SEC Spring Meetings with other student-athletes and represented the SEC at the NCAA Convention earlier this year. Evans is a member of Alabama’s track and field team, which is ranked nationally.
Doehler, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, is part of the top-ranked Texas swimming and diving team. He earned a spot on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team and was included on the Big 12 Academic Honor Roll.
The SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Councils offer SEC student-athletes an opportunity to collaborate with campus leaders and conference staff. Councils representing football, men’s and women’s basketball, and SAAC create a platform to address student-athlete issues, wellness, and playing rules.
