South Carolina looks to get back on track against No. 15 Iowa State after losing for the first since 2023 to No. 5 UCLA.

South Carolina is in a spot right now they have not been in since the Final Four in 2023. They have just lost a game for the first time in over a year and some of these players have never even felt that feeling while at the university.

The Gamecocks didn't just lose to UCLA; they got embarrassed by the Bruins in a game that the only time it was truly close was in the second quarter, but at halftime, it was a 21-game deficit. The Gamecocks did their job in shutting down Lauren Betts, but the rest of the UCLA team was just too much for South Carolina to handle.

Head coach Dawn Staley admitted that her team just didn't do enough to win against UCLA and that the Bruins play some beautiful basketball. Even though the loss was tough, South Carolina didn't have a lot of time to dwell on it as they are getting set to take on No. 15 Iowa State in their second straight ranked matchup.
