Freshman Joyce Edwards led the team with 18 points, marking her fifth consecutive game as the team's leading scorer. MiLaysia Fulwiley contributed 17 points and three steals, while Chloe Kitts added 13 points and nine rebounds. Raven Johnson facilitated the offense with seven assists and six steals.
The game was closely contested, with Auburn matching South Carolina's intensity for much of the matchup. It wasn't until the final minutes of the third quarter that the Gamecocks established a comfortable lead. In the fourth quarter, South Carolina scored 21 points while limiting Auburn to 17, securing the win.
Both teams displayed efficient shooting, each exceeding 50% from the field. Auburn managed to connect on five three-pointers, challenging the Gamecocks throughout the game.
The victory was particularly significant as it coincided with the retirement of A'ja Wilson's No. 22 jersey. Wilson, a 2017 national champion and three-time WNBA MVP, was honored in a ceremony at halftime, celebrating her contributions to the program and women's basketball.
