Thankfully, South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori didn't have to wait long on Friday night to hear his name called. On Thursday, a video went viral of Emmanwori with his draft party hoping he'd be taken in the first round, but things didn't go to plan.
However, with the No. 35 overall pick, the Seattle Seahawks stepped in and said enough was enough - it was time to take Emmanwori off the board. Emmanwori said that Hawks legend Kam Chancellor already reached out to him on social media and sent him a DM.
Seattle has a long history of featuring fantastic defensive back play. Chancellor, Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman... the list goes on and on. Right after he was drafted, Emmanwori acknowledged the great history of the Seahawks and he wants to help bring back that fierce style of play to the 206:
Nick Emmanwori knows what the Legion of Boom means in Seattle
Emmanwori was a fan favorite with South Carolina and it sure looks like he knows the right things to say to win over the new fanbase he's getting ready to impress. Whenever the Legion of Boom is mentioned, people all over Seattle will have a smile on their face.
That LOB was a major reason why the Seahawks were able to win their first and only Super Bowl title, taking down Peyton Manning and the Broncos. The year after, well, we will go ahead and forget about the ending to the loss to the Patriots with the SB on the line, but the Legion of Boom helped get them back to the big game.
There's a new look for this team, as Seattle is rebuilding a little bit and there are plenty of new faces in town. Emmanwori will have the chance to be a difference-maker from Day 1 and he's ready to back up his words with strong play in 2025 and beyond. Gamecocks fans across the country will be watching him closely and they'll be confident he'll be ready to deliver for Mike Macdonald and his staff.
