College football's Week 7 was an absolute thriller, and we saw several Top-10 teams go down in Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana and Alabama. When the new AP Poll dropped with all the shakeups, there was expected to be several changes.
And that is exactly what we saw, as Miami took over the top spot after the Canes' thrilling victory over the Florida State Seminoles, winning 43-35 in double-overtime. BYU also rose into the No. 2 spot after defeating Notre Dame at home, although the refs admitted the Irish should have gotten another second late in the game.
Ohio State rose three spots after defeating Indiana on the road, and Georgia dropped four spots after losing 27-24 to unranked Auburn at home. South Carolina's opponent this week, Tennessee, jumped three spots after beating Alabama at home.
Without further ado, here's a look at the latest AP Poll after Week 7.
- Miami Hurricanes (6-0)
- BYU Cougars (6-0)

As you can see, the Gamecocks will be taking on the No. 11 team in the nation in Tennessee on Saturday. The Las Vegas oddsmakers have already moved the point spread a bit further towards favoring the Vols, who won the last meeting against the Gamecocks in 2023.
As for other observations in the poll as they relate to South Carolina, the team the Gamecocks beat last week, the Florida Gators, jumped back into the Top-25 with an upset 27-24 over the Longhorns in Austin. Alabama is still ranked 13th, after the loss to Tennessee, and Kentucky jumped three more spots after going on the road to beat Oklahoma.
South Carolina's Week 3 opponent, Mississippi State, fell out of the rankings entirely after getting shutout on the road against LSU 31-0.
With the exception of Tennessee, Georgia is the only remaining ranked team that South Carolina will face the rest of the season. Although of course, that may change if Clemson climbs back in the rankings.
South Carolina will certainly have its hands full against No. 11 Tennessee this week.
