Mississippi State-South Carolina weather delay pushes kickoff back nearly an hour

South Carolina Gamecocks fans who were eagerly awaiting kickoff against Mississippi State in Columbia will have to wait a bit longer. Although the game was set to kickoff at 4:15 p.m., lighting in the area forced the game into a weather delay. 

Across the southeast, various other college football games were affected on Saturday, including Clemson's game against North Carolina, and No. 10 Alabama's game at home against Florida State. 

Here's the latest on the MSU-South Carolina delay. 

Missisippi State-South Carolina weather delay

There was a brief initial delay put in-place before both teams kicked off. But despite the game appearing to be set for the scheduled kickoff time of around 4:20 p.m., the Gamecocks announced the game was delayed shortly after 4 p.m. 

Fans were told to remain in the concourses during the delay due to the weather in the area

Those who were attending the game stated that players would have 35 minutes to warm up before kickoff.

Both teams' players began taking the field shortly before 5 p.m., after nearly an hour-long delay:

Shortly after the players made it back out from their locker rooms, the new kickoff time was set for 5:35 p.m. ET. 

It'll be interesting to see how both teams respond after the delay.

This is the second time that South Carolina has experienced a weather delay this season, as the Gamecocks had a brief weather delay against Towson.
