A former South Carolina Gamecock and national champion is on the move in the WNBA. Former Gamecock forward Sania Feagin was waived by the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, and she will search to land elsewhere.
The Sparks drafted Feagin in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft with the No. 21 overall pick. She was at South Carolina from 2021-2025, and was on the Gamecocks' national championship team in 2024. Her last season at South Carolina was her best yet, as she started in all 39 games for the Gamecocks and averaged 8.1 points per game with 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
But across her two seasons with the Sparks, that level of performance never showed up. She played in just 19 games in the last two seasons, and averaged 1.1 points per game with 0.6 rebounds. She also suffered a leg injury at the beginning of the season that limited her production this year.
The Sparks waived Feagin to make room for the signing of guard Kiana WIlliams, who was on a developmental deal with the Phoenix Mercury. So far with Phoenix, Williams is putting up 4.8 points across her eight games played. The Sparks, who are riding a four-game losing streak, needed a backup guard to come off the bench, so they signed Williams to fill that role.
Following Sparks practice today, Lynne Roberts confirmed Sania Feagin was waived this morning ahead of the anticipated addition of Kiana Williams who is currently in route to LA. https://t.co/Gm9skCl0rb

“It’s tough,” Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts said of waiving Feagin via the Los Angeles Daily News. “Love Sania and still believe that she can make it in this league. It’s just more about our need. That’s the business side of it, but certainly the human side is tough.”
The Sparks also have rookie guard and former Gamecock Ta'Niya Latson on their roster, but she is averaging just two points per game across her eight appearances this season so far.
Hopefully Feagin isn't on the free agent market for too long.
