If there's any debate about who is the greatest women's basketball player of all time, A'ja Wilson just put that to rest. During the Las Vegas Aces' 98-77 victory over the Seattle Storm, Wilson made WNBA history as she reached 1,000 points for the season.
The moment happened in the second quarter of the Aces' win over the Storm, during which Wilson finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and another four assists. The moment came during a free-throw, and the home Aces crowd and Wilson's teammates erupted to celebrate their star:

Not only did Wilson reach 1,000 points, she became the first player in WNBA to reach 1,000 points more than once. Wilson last did this in 2024, becoming the first player to do so in league history.
"I was just trying to get the win, honestly," Wilson said after the win. "I think this is a crucial time for us and we can't really slack off in different situations, so I didn't really get caught up in a lot of that. But I don't take this moment for granted. "When you're able to be in the record books for the WNBA, it's a pretty big deal considering how many players have played this game and how many players are playing the game currently. So I'm blessed."
Wilson is having one of the best WNBA seasons of her career. She leads the league with 26.2 points per game, and is averaging another 9.3 rebounds with 3.2 assists per game.
The win was an important one for the Aces, who are looking to make a deep postseason run this year. The victory put Las Vegas to 29-13 on the season, as the Aces are currently in third place in the West. The Aces sit right behind the 32-10 Minnesota Lynx and 31-11 Golden State Valkyries.
Perhaps even more impressive is that Wilson managed to reach the milestone with two games still to go in the Aces' regular season. Wilson and Vegas are set to take on the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 22, and they will close out the regular season with a Sept. 24 road trip to play the Phoenix Mercury.
The Aces are projected by The Athletic to earn the No. 3 seed in the postseason. Who the Aces would play at the No. 6 spot remains to be seen, but it will likely be between the Dallas Wings, Washington Mystics or Indiana Fever.
