Things didn't go as planned for the Gamecocks quarterback this season

LaNorris Sellers isn't ready to speak about his future with South Carolina football. That's understandable, because there are a lot of things that need to be sorted out. But there is a good chance that Saturday's loss to Clemson could be the last time Sellers plays with the Gamecocks.

In this post-game press conference, Sellers was non-committal to his future in college football and would take time before making the best decision for himself.

"When the time comes to make a decision, I'll make a decision. Whatever is best for me," Sellers said.

Sellers, who came into the 2025 as a potential Heisman contender and top quarterback prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, is probably not looking at declaring to play pro football in the coming weeks. His value right now is arguably much higher in college football, where he can stay in South Carolina for his redshirt junior season or hit the transfer portal.

Sellers would be a hot commodity on the transfer market

Even though he struggled this season, Sellers still has tremendous upside and top schools would be clamoring to get shot to "fix" the 6-foot-3, 240-pound athlete. There have already been rumblings that Sellers would be Miami's top choice if he were to enter the portal.

Miami certainly wouldn't be the only school interested. Sellers' physical talent makes him the perfect fit in almost any offense if he's healthy. Although Shane Beamer didn't want to talk about Sellers' future with the program, he certainly understands that a player with that kind of upside would be tough to replace immediately.

This is all part of college football, especially for teams that had disappointing seasons like South Carolina. The Gamecocks ended the 2024 season on fire and came into this year with some high expectations. Things didn't go as planned and that cost Mike Shula his job.

Now it's all about what happens next. We know that Beamer will make some changes to his staff and on the roster. The big question is if Sellers fits into that vision.
