The WNBA season is in full swing, and there are several South Carolina Gamecocks making headlines across the league. In fact, Dawn Staley has a program-record 12 former players playing across the league.

One that both made headlines and set records on Friday evening is Chicago Sky star center Kamilla Cardoso, who set a new WNBA record while leading her team to a 124-94 victory over the Portland Fire. During the home game for the Sky in Chicago, Cardoso shot a perfect 13-for-13 from the floor, which is a league record. She added 30 points in the victory, which was also a career high for her.

With the victory, the Sky also set a franchise record for points scored with their 124. Perhaps even more impressive was the fact that Cardoso broke the record before the final whistle. During a mid-game interview before the third quarter, Cardoso was asked how she was able to have such a big shooting night. Naturally, she didn't take all the credit, shouting out her teammates for finding her:

“Just to stay consistent. I think my teammates (are) doing a great job just finding me and passing me the ball when I’m open," Cardoso said.

"I think that it's been trending that for a while ... She's been playing awesome, and she has the capability to do that," Vandersloot said via USA Today. And we're gonna ride this wave and keep expecting this from her. She was incredible tonight, and she should be celebrated."

The win gave Chicago a second straight win over the Fire, and they improved to 6-12 on the season. If Cardoso keeps playing like this, Chicago might start getting hot at just the right time.

Next up for Cardoso and the Sky is getting the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces at home, Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. The game will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

It'll be interesting to see if Cardoso can keep up the scoring against the Aces' defense.

Congrats to Cardoso on such a huge night!
