Ever since South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner announced at the beginning of the semester that he would be retiring into a new role at the end of the calendar year, South Carolina has been on the search for a new AD.

South Carolina is in the works to hire TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati who has been with the Horned Frogs since 2017.

Donati first joined TCU back in 2011 as the university's vice chancellor and associate athletic director for development, helping with fundraising, and was a big reason for bringing in nearly $500 million dollars to the athletic program. Donati was promoted to athletic director in 2017, and since taking the lead of the Horned Frogs athletics, TCU won eight team National Championships and 11 Big 12 Conference titles.

While at TCU, Donati brought in Sonny Dykes, who led the Horned Frogs to their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance and as well as an appearance in the National Championship, where they eventually fell to the Georgia Bulldogs.

South Carolina's current AD, Tanner, is set to leave at the end of this fall semester after a year of service to South Carolina athletics both as a coach and as the athletic director. Tanner is set to take on a new role within the university, still tied with athletics and helping raise money for the program.

Tanner did so much for South Carolina in his time as a coach and athletic director, bringing in coaches such as head football coach Shane Beamer, who has now led the Gamecocks to a great season.
