College football recruiting never sleeps, and that includes in the SEC. Although South Carolina's 2027 class includes three members, Gamecock fans might want to keep an eye on 4-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain.

According to Jake Boico of UGA Wire, the Georgia Bulldogs are apparently trying to flip Fountain. Fountain, is the No. 28 cornerback prospect in his class and the 23rd ranked prospect out of his home state of Georgia per the 247Sports Composite. He verbally committed to Shane Beamer's 2027 class in January.

But as Boico writes, the Dawgs' coaching staff is trying to convince the Warner Robins, Ga. product to stay close to home.

"At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, the Georgia native reportedly had the Bulldogs listed as a top landing spot prior to his commitment," Boice writes. "As Georgia is now expected to push even harder in hopes of flipping the dynamic playmaker to Athens. Fountain appeared in just three games during his junior season at Northside High School (Warner Robins, Georgia), but Fountain will look to be a difference maker for whoever lands the star defensive back."

Boico adds that although Fountain is currently firmly committed to the Gamecocks,  Kirby Smart and his staff is expected to continue to try flipping him throughout the offseason.

Aside from holding offers from Georgia and South Carolina, he also has them from the likes of power-conference schools such as Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Miami, Michigan, Indiana, LSU, and Texas, among several others. 247 does list his status under the Buckeyes as "warm," so things could be heating up between Fountain and the Buckeyes.

Losing Fountain's commitment certainly wouldn't be ideal for Beamer or South Carolina's 2027 class. He was the second player to commit to the class, about a week after it landed three-star safety Jernard Albright, also out of the Peach State.

The Gamecocks have been hosting a number of recruiting prospects as they continue through spring football, and several offers and verbal commitments are expected in the coming weeks. But apparently it would be wise to keep an eye on Fountain as the offseason progresses.

South Carolina's 2027 class currently ranks 34th nationally, and checks in at 11th in the SEC.
