While there is a ton of excitement surrounding the South Carolina Gamecocks football team, and rightfully so with the release of "Any Given Saturday" on Netflix and the start of fall camp. However, there is other excitement around Gamecocks sports as the Women's basketball team released its SEC Conference schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The WBB team in 2024-25 had an overall record of 35-4, with a conference record of 15-1. The only conference loss coming from fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns on Feb. 9 (66-62). However, the Gamecocks had the last laugh as they beat the Longhorns 64-45 to win the SEC title on March 9. Furthermore, the Gamecocks went further than the Longhorns in the NCAA tournament, making the Championship game.
The Gamecocks start their SEC Conference play on New Year's Day against the Alabama Crimson Tide, at home at Colonial Life Arena. Their first two road games begin on January 4 in Gainesville against the Gators and on January 8 versus the Arkansas Razorbacks.

While they went to Austin last season, the Gamecocks will host the Longhorns on January 15 as they look to avenge the road loss. It'll be exciting to see the Gamecocks give the Longhorns a taste of beating a good team to defend their home during conference play. They will also host the Lady Volunteers of Tennessee on February 8 after hosting Mississippi State three days before. Staley's crew will face the Crimson Tide again, this time in Tuscaloosa on February 19. The Crimson Tide is the only team the Gamecocks will face twice in conference play.
The Gamecocks will close out their regular season and SEC Conference play on March 1 against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington. At the point, the hope is that they will have the conference regular season title locked up before the SEC Tournament starts. The final home game will be on February 26 versus the Missouri Tigers in the battle of the Columbia schools.
Staley's group is poised to make another run, again, for a national title, along with some SEC titles to boot. Furthermore, they look to go a perfect 16-0 in conference play and build off of their 16-1 home record from last season. It'll be a fun season for the women's basketball team as they will be striving for more hardware in the trophy case in 2025-26.
