South Carolina sophomore Joyce Edwards is set to represent the Garnet and Black on the international stage, yet again. The Gamecock women's basketball standout is playing with USA Basketball this week as a member of the 2025 USA 3x3 Nations League team. She will be competing in the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference from July 21-27 in Punta Arenas, Chile. This marks Edwards' third USA Basketball appearance of the summer, making her debut for the 3x3 tournaments back in May at the USA Basketball 3X Nationals. At that tournament, she joined fellow Gamecocks Tessa Johnson, Chloe Kitts, and Maddy McDaniel to reach the semifinals. Earlier this month, Edwards also helped to lead Team USA to gold at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup, which is her third international gold medal representing the United States. In the AmeriCup, Team USA topped Team Brazil, which included former Gamecock Kamilla Cardoso and incoming freshman Ayla McDowell 92-84 to claim the title.
Now, the international powerhouse women's athlete is back in Chile, this time as a key part of a six-woman team battling through six tournaments in a week. The unique FIBA 3x3 Nations League format includes multiple stops and a daily four-player roster, with each team earning points to qualify for the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Xiong An, China in September.
As the reigning 3x3 world champs, Team USA has already secured a trip to the World Cup, but that has not stopped the Gamecock standout and her teammates from pushing to dominate the conference standings.
