South Carolina football will head into the 2025 season with three of its top playmakers recognized among the SEC's best. On Tuesday, the league announed its preseason All-SEC teams, and the Gamecocks were well represented.
Dylan Stewart, the sophomore edge rusher from Washington, D.C., earned first-team honors after making a name for himself as a true freshman in 2024. Stewart finished the season with 10.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and was a finalist for the Shaun Alexander National Freshman of the Year award. He has already collected several preseason honors, including first-team All-American recognition from the Associated Press, further raising expectations for his second season.
At quarterback, LaNorris Sellers continues to build on his late-season momentum from 2024. The Florence, SC native was selected to the second-team All-SEC squad. Sellers earned National Freshman Offensive Player of the Year honors from the Football Writers Association after throwing for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing over 65% of his passes. He also added 674 yards and seven scores on the ground, showcasing his dual-threat ability that has South Carolina fans buzzing.
Joining Sellers on the second team is defensive back Jalon Kilgore, who emerged as one of the SEC's most dangerous playmakers in the secondary last fall. Kilgore is tied for the conference lead with five interceptions, while adding 48 tackles and five pass breakups. His interception total was the highest by a Gamecock in the last two decades.
