South Carolina Gamecock fans may be able to breathe a sigh of relief. According to sources, quarterback LaNorris Sellers was back on the practice field Wednesday and could be in line to play on Saturday against the Missouri Tigers.

Sellers was injured during the second quarter of last week's 31-7 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores. He took a helmet-to-helmet hit, was down for a minute before walking off the field and into the locker room without his helmet. He did not return to the game on Saturday, so there was concern that Sellers would not clear concussion protocol prior to Saturday against Mizzou. However, it now appears that things are trending in the right direction for No. 16.

Sellers has not looked like his normal self through 2 1/2 games this season, as he has just 431 passing yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown an interception, and his 41.5 QBR ranks 104th across college football.

In the ground game, Sellers has just 45 yards on 24 carries, good for a measly average of 1.9 yards per carry with just one touchdown. He has not been the breakout player fans saw in the second half of last season that helped the Gamecocks get to nine wins, giving them a shot at getting into the College Football Playoff.

The South Carolina offense hasn't lit the world on fire by any means, but having Sellers back under center could be a big spark. With the performance last week from backup quarterback Luke Doty, Sellers at 75-80% may be a much better option than Doty would be.

Shane Beamer's injury report for Saturday against Missouri is set to be released on Wednesday evening, and Gamecocks fans should expect to get the notion that their star quarterback will be ready to go Saturday night in what feels like a must-win game.
