In one of her first major recruiting moves, South Carolina women's volleyball head coach Rumely Noble, landed a big recruit. One of the nation's top prospects of the 2027 class, Riley Riggs, a 6-foot outside hitter from Shawnee, Kansas made it official on Tuesday afternoon that she is a Gamecock. The Mill Valey High School standout is already decorated with numerous accolades. She is a two-time Kansas 6A state champion, a top-35 player nationally according to Prep Dig and PrepVolleyball, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Kansas. Her team, Dynasty 16-1 Black was one of the top 10 teams in the country this season.
In her SportsRecruits profile, Riggs said of herself: “I’m a gritty, shotty, six-rotation outside hitter touching over 10ft. I’m a go-to scorer with a heavy swing in the front and back rows. I’m a hustler with a go-getter attitude and a determination to win.”
In other words? She's built for greatness. Riggs brings a ton of firepower, edge, and tireless work ethic to a South Carolina program that is entering a new era under Coach Noble. The former Appalachian State head coach brings experience from across the SEC and beyond with stints at LSU, Arkansas, Wake Forest, and North Texas.
The volleyball schedule is yet to come for non-conference games, but the SEC schedule for South Carolina is already on the books. The Gamecocks will open conference play against Kentucky on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. And if Coach Noble can keep stacking talent like Riggs, the rest of the league better buckle up.
