Gamecocks Dominate in statement win against Arkansas, 72-53

South Carolina secured a conference win over Arkansas, 72-53, improving their record to 12-17 for the season. The Gamecocks showed a dominant defensive effort, holding the Razorbacks to 28.8% shooting from the field and only 13.6% from the three-point range.

The Gamecocks came off the bench swinging, led by Nick Pringle who scored six points early on. South Carolina was up 16-2 by the second media timeout. The Razorbacks seemed to struggle finding a rhythm early on, shooting 1-8 from the field with six turnovers.

Collin Murray-Boyles scored seven straight points to extend the lead 30-10 before the score was upped 32-14 before the half. This is the largest halftime lead this season for the Gamecocks. Murray-Boyles put on an absolute clinic, scoring a total of 35 points while adding six rebounds and four steals. His performance in this game solidified his status as a top NBA Draft prospect.

In the second half, South Carolina continued to dominate, outscoring Arkansas 8-2 in the first five minutes. The Razorbacks were shooting 4-34 from the field, while a 3-pointer from Jordan Butler pushed the margin to a 30-point lead.

South Carolina will remain at home for the next matchup against Georgia on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
