Coastal Carolina traveled to Williams-Brice Stadium for a scheduled guarantee game against South Carolina on November 22, 2025. The Gamecocks dominated Coastal with a 51-7 victory, asserting their dominance on their home field in a buy game set up by South Carolina.

A buy, or guarantee, game in college football is one where a team, in this case South Carolina, pays an opponent to come play at their stadium. Typically, larger schools like those in the SEC offer smaller schools a payout in exchange for what is usually considered a highly winnable matchup. Power programs in the SEC normally schedule buy out games to balance the aggressive play of their conference teams.

Coastal's reported payout amount for agreeing to the game was approximately $1.4 million dollars.

South Carolina's 2025 SEC schedule was largely demanding. After playing against power programs like Texas A&M, the Gamecocks needed a non-conference opponent to set them ahead. Not only did the Coastal game give them another win to their record, but it also allowed for injury relief and development reps for their string players.

South Carolina set the tone early with an explosive play touchdown with speed and depth. LaNorris Sellers made multiple connections for big plays, including a strike to Jayden Sellers, breaking open the game. South Carolina cranked out steady yardage, allowing them to smother the Chanticleers' defense. Coastal managed only one touchdown as the Gamecocks piled on touchdown after touchdown.

Overall, the game served its purpose. South Carolina won by a landslide and while Coastal took the loss, the matchup boosted the Gamecocks record and prepared them to take on their rival. South Carolina now turns its focus to Clemson on Saturday, November 29th, with plans to carry that momentum into the Palmetto State showdown.
