The lights were bright, the crowd was loud, and Kentucky's Cutter Boley got his first taste of what a road start in the SEC really feels like. The redshirt freshman quarterback made his third career start Saturday night in Columbia, and it quickly turned into a nightmare.
South Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart sacked Boley on a third-and-7, jarring the ball loose. Jatius Geer scooped it up and rumbled 41 yards for a touchdown. Just two plays later, Boley's pass slipped through the hands of Kendrick Law, and Gerald Kilgore turned the deflection into a 45-yard pick-six.

The Kentucky freshman's troubles only deepened throughout the game as South Carolina's Brandon Cisse intercepted a pass, returning it to Wildcat territory. Rahsul Faison cashed it in with a short TD run. And by halftime, South Carolina had forced four turnovers in the quarter alone, leading 29-10.
This is the version of Rahsul Faison that South Carolina waited more than eight months for to see if he’d be cleared.

Pretty good blocking by USC, but this was a nice job by Faison of getting through a tight hole and finding the end zone. https://t.co/O3V9m1digx pic.twitter.com/OboMtHTTLa
South Carolina's defense played its best game of the season. The Gamecocks forced turnovers, registered six sacks, and allowed only 36 yards after halftime. Dylan Stewart and Desmond Umeozulu wreaked havoc off the edge, while Kilgore and Cisse kept the secondary opportunistic and aggressive.

Star quarterback LaNorris Sellers didn't have to do too much, as the run game carried the load. Faison scored twice, Matt Fuller added another on the ground, as Sellers set up big plays with them, including a 59-yard strike to Vandrevius Jacobs.
The 35-13 win snapped South Carolina's SEC skid, sending them into their bye week at 3-2. Next up is a daunting road trip to LSU on October 11.
