After one season in garnet and black, quarterback Dante Reno is heading back north. The redshirt freshman recently announced his commitment to Yale University, where he will play under his father, Tony Reno, the Bulldogs' head coach since 2012. Reno announced his decision to GamecockCentral following his departure from the Gamecocks program.

Reno spent his lone season with South Carolina in a developmental role, redshirting last season. His only appearance came during South Carolina's week 4 over Akron. Though Reno did not attempt a pass, he retains four full years of eligibility.

A native of Connecticut and graduate of Cheshire Academy, Reno joined the Gamecocks as part of their 2024 recruiting class. He was rated as the No. 34 quarterback in the nation by On3 Rankings and competed in the Elite 11 Finals prior to enrolling at South Carolina.

Reno expressed nothing but appreciation for his time in Columbia, telling GamecockCentral, "Gamecock Nation, thank you for everything. This wasn't an easy decision. South Carolina is a special place, and it's because of the people. That will never change." While Reno's next chapter will be in the Ivy League, he leaves Columbia with a lot of respect and gratitude for the garnet and black.
