After going from the SEC to AAC for one season, a former South Carolina wide receiver is back in the transfer portal looking for a new school.
O'Mega Blake, who spent his first two seasons with South Carolina before heading to Charlotte for one year, is back in the transfer portal. Blake had the best season of his career with the 49ers, but he must be wanting something different again.
Blake was recruited by head coach Shane Beamer back in 2021 in Beamer's first season as the head coach. In his first season, Blake had just one reception for one yard with South Carolina. In year two, though, Blake upped his numbers to 19 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns. However, with a lot of uncertainty around the quarterback position, Blake wasn't the only wide receiver to hit the transfer portal last season out of South Carolina.
Blake could return to the Gamecocks this season, as South Carolina has already lost four wide receivers to the portal. If the junior pass catcher was looking to get back in power conference football, he could reunite with his former team.
In his one season with Charlotte, Blake put up respectable numbers with 32 receptions for 795 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 24.8 yards per catch. Blake has solid speed and soft hands; he just hasn't gotten the targets to have big numbers.
Blake could be a solid deep-threat wide receiver for any team he chooses to go to, and I am sure if he wanted a reunion with his old team, there could be some good conversations there.
