Before South Carolina's game against Alabama, linebacker Bangally Kamara went into head coach Shane Beamer's office to talk about redshirting for the season. Kamara wanted to play in his fourth allotted game to preserve his redshirt but then wanted to sit the rest of the season, and Beamer didn't have it.

Beamer sat down with Kamara in his office and told him this wasn't necessarily the way it would work for him. Either Kamara would continue to play with the Gamecocks at a high level as Beamer would have liked, or he would redshirt and enter the portal at the end of the season. The Akron, Ohio native chose the latter and once the transfer portal opened, he entered his name.

Well, Kamara has officially chosen where he will play college football next season, and he is making a move to the Midwest to join Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks have not had the season they hoped they would as they are just 2-6 on the season after being a favorite to contend for the Big 12 this season.

Kamara will be able to add a lot to a struggling Jayhawks defense that is middle of the pack in the BGI 12 this season. In the four games he played with the Gamecocks this season, Kamara totaled nine tackles, seven of them solo tackles. The Ohio native only played four games in his career with South Carolina after spending four years prior at Pitt.

In his career, Kamara has 124 total tackles, 67 solo tackles, eight passes defended, four sacks, and one interception. South Carolina has been able to make do without Kamara on the defense since he redshirted before the Alabama game. The Gamecocks' defensive line has been dominant and was a big reason for the win over No. 10 Texas A&M this past weekend.
