Collin Murray-Boyles Breaks Out in NBA Summer League with Raptors

The Toronto Raptors knew they were landing a star when they selected former Gamecock Collin Murray-Boyles with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. And recently, CMB has given the Raptors a full preview of his potential on the court. In an 81-69 over the Golden State Warriors' Summer League team, Murray-Boyles dominated on both ends of the paint.

The Columbia native put up 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also added nine rebounds, including six off the offensive glass, grabbed six steals, two assists, and hit a three-pointer. Oh, and did we mention that was all in 25 minutes of play? The rookie Raptor showcased his explosiveness, slamming a few thunderous dunks. He led the players with a +22 +/- rating, emphasizing just how impactful he can be in a game.

Defense on Lock for CMB

Prior to his breakout offensive performance in the summer league, Murray-Boyles has been turning heads with his defensive prowess. He has held his own on the court, moved well on the perimeter, and has shown the kind of versatility that Gamecocks know and love to see from CMB. There's a good chance that he will be a Day 1 impact player for the Raptors. The key area to watch moving forward on the big stage is foul discipline. If Murray-Boyles can limit any unnecessary contact, he has all the tools and the athleticism to be a two-way force at the next level.

Another Gamecock Making Moves Too

Gamecock Nation had even more to cheer about last week as AJ Lawson, another South Carolina basketball star, stacked the stat sheet with 12 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals for the Raptors. Lawson also knocked downed a couple of three-pointers as he continues to be one of the top performers for the Las Vegas Summer League and vies for a permanent spot on the Raptors' roster.

While the two former Gamecocks did not overlap in Columbia, Lawson and Murray-Boyles teamed up well for defensive highlights against the Warriors, showcasing a chemistry that could prove valuable if both former South Carolina stars stay in Toronto.
