Former Gamecock star Kamilla Cardoso is doing exactly what South Carolina fans always knew what she would, dominate in the pros with the same poise and presence she brought to Columbia. Cardoso, who helped lead the Gamecocks to a national championship and earned Most Outstanding Player honors, has taken major strides in her second season with the Chicago Sky. She has become a force on the offensive end, showcasing her ability in her most recent game with a career-high 27 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks. It was her final game before temporarily stepping away to play for her Brazilian National Team.
Cardoso will be competing for the Brazilian National Team at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, which is taking place from June 28 to July 6, in Santiago, Chile. Recently, she posted several photos in her national jersey, proudly repping Brazil, and her Chicago Sky teammate, and former SEC rival, Angel Reese responded with love and support commenting: "Miss you already millllyyyyy. But you look so pretty & happy."
Cardoso is currently dominating on the court, averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 56.1% from the field. She has become a dependable interior presence and a key part of the rebuild in Chicago.
Gamecock Nation always knew that her game would translate to the big stage. Now with one foot firmly in the WNBA and the other planted firmly in the international team, Kamilla Cardoso is becoming a global force.
