If you have been following Jordan Burch since his high school days at Hammond, it almost feels like a full circle moment for Gamecock fans in Columbia. Burch started his college career at South Carolina before finishing up at Oregon and was once one of the most talked-about recruits in the country.
Originally from Florence, Burch made his way to Hammond, leading the team to three straight SCISA State Titles and finished high school as a Top-10 national recuit, the highest-rated commitment of the Will Muschamp era.
During his career at South Carolina, Burch amassed 105 tackles, 12.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, and even grabbed a pick six against Tennessee. After the 2022 season, he tarnsferred to Oregon to join Dan Lanning, who had recruited him out of high school.
At Oregon, Burch posted a career high of 8.5 sacks last season, with 31 tackles and 11 tackles for loss. He was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant performance against Michigan State, racking up 2.5 sacks, four tackles, and a fumble recovery.
"Jordan Burch is a gifted player," Kiper said before the draft. "When he was in the SEC he was wreaking havoc. He did a good job at Oregon. Talented kid. I think he’s a second-rounder. I think somebody’s going to roll the dice on the talent in round 2, at the latest round 3."
In the 2025 NFL Draft, Burch was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 78th overall pick. The Cardinals are betting on his size and speed as being one of the best steals of the Draft.
