Another Gamecock s getting a shot at the NFL! Linebacker Debo Williams has received an invite to a rookie minicamp with the Pittsburg Steelers following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Williams is the third player from Shane Beamer's inaugural class to earn an opportunity to showcase Beamer Ball talent on the professional stage. Defensive tackle T.J. Sanders was selected 41st overall by the Buffalo Bills in the second round. Marcellas Dial is already with the New England Patriots.
Known for his leadership and elite physicality, Williams brings a powerful run-stopping ability and character to Pittsburg as he competes for a spot on the Steelers' roster.
Williams began his college career at the University of Delaware before transferring to South Carolina after COVID impacted the 2020 football season. He was one of head coach Shane Beamer's first commitments and quickly became a fan favorite on the field. Williams spent all four seasons in Columbia, appearing in all 51 games of his Gamecock career.
He totaled 225 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble. He quickly rose to the ranks of starter and was team captain for his final two seasons. In his breakout season in 2023, he posted career highs of 115 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, and three pass breakups. Williams was named First-Team All-SEC in 2023 and earned an All-American nod from Phil Steele.
