It's been a week to remember for South Carolina and Shane Beamer, as the Gamecocks have brought in multiple new coaches, including offensive coordinator Kendal Briles. Well, it looks like even more big news is on the way for the heart and soul of this team.

That'd be quarterback LaNorris Sellers. For a while now, there's been plenty of speculation that Sellers could leave Columbia and enter the transfer portal when things open up in early January. It's something that has kept plenty of fans up late at night.

Thankfully, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. On Saturday morning, Pete Thamel dropped a bombshell report that Sellers and South Carolina are finalizing a new deal that will bring him back next season. Obviously, this is huge news for Beamers and SC as a whole:

This is massive offseason news for South Carolina and it's indeed what everyone has been hoping for. This of course is bad news for other teams who were waiting to see what Sellers was going to decide. The list includes Miami.

With Carson Beck off to the NFL next season, a lot of people in Coral Gables were already thinking about Mario Cristobal making a move here. However, the Hurricanes are going to have to look elsewhere, as all signs are pointing to Sellers staying in the SEC.

This past campaign, Sellers threw for 2,437 yards and 13 touchdowns, while adding five more scores on the ground. The year before, he tossed for 18 touchdowns, with seven more rushing TDs. There's no question he's a dual-threat signal-caller who provides opposing defenses with plenty of issues.

Again, there was worry that he was going to be saying goodbye to the Gamecocks, but with Briles coming in as new offensive coordinator, it appears to be a home-run hire in more ways than one. Briles and Sellers will need to get to work immediately to plan for next season, but with the star QB now fully expected to be back, it should give people hope that '26 could be a year to remember for this program.
