South Carolina Football landed a significant 2026 recruiting commitment on Wednesday as wide receiver Stone Furrey pledged to join the Gamecocks, according to his post on social media. Furrey told GamecockCentral, “I just want to find a coach that takes me in, like one of their own sons, so he’s helping me in school, on the field, and making sure I’m in the best shape I can be.”

Furrey, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound local playmaker from Dutch Fork High School, brings speed, reliable hands, and production to the Gamecock receiver corps. During his senior season, he showcased his ability to impact games by recording nearly 700 receiving yards with six touchdowns, including a 158-yard performance, and a 72-yard scoring play in key matchups. Furrey is the second receiver in the 2026 cycle to commit to the Gamecocks, joining four-star WR Sequel Patterson.

A Familiar Face in Columbia

The young Furrey is the son of South Carolina’s wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Mike Furrey. He has been a regular around Williams-Brice Stadium and team facilities throughout his high school career, training with current Gamecock players and building chemistry with the coaches. His commitment reflects both his personal connection to the program and South Carolina’s recruitment of in-state talent.

Furrey's commitment adds to a growing group of receivers in South Carolina's 2026's recruiting class. In addition to four-star prospect Sequel Patterson, Furrey will help bolster depth in a position group that has already seen momentum this cycle. As a dynamic route-runner with a knack for big-play production and a deep familiarity with the Gamecocks, Furrey is expected to contribute immediately to South Carolina's offensive plans once he arrives on campus.
