The 2024 football season for the South Carolina Gamecocks was impressive with a nine-win season. One veteran player who was a key factor in the success of the team for season was Demetrius Knight.
Before finishing his college football career at South Carolina, Knight spent time at Georgia Tech and Charlotte. Last season, he played in every game for the Gamecocks, finishing with 82 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception.
As of today, Knight is projected as a third-round draft pick by most mock drafts and has the opportunity to shoot up the ranks even more after this weekend.
Knight is one of the 11 players from the Gamecocks chosen to participate in the 2025 NFL Combine. Today, he met with the press to talk, expressing confidence in the Gamecocks' future before starting his combine performance.
“South Carolina is going to be a team to reckon with for years and years to come, as long as Beamer’s there doing his thing and laying the law down like he has been,” Knight said. “They’re going to be a great team to watch this year. I can’t wait to see what they do.”
He had high praises for his former teammate, LaNorris Sellers and the upcoming season. “Hopefully, LaNorris continues to work his magic that he would display every Saturday,” Knight said. “South Carolina is going to be a team to watch, for sure."
The upcoming football schedule for the Gamecocks is a beast, as they will face LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M on the road next season.
