Dawn Staley, the head coach of the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team, has signed a historic contract extension through the 2029–30 season. The agreement, valued at approximately $25.25 million, starts with an annual salary of $4 million and includes a $500,000 signing bonus. Her salary will increase by $250,000 each subsequent season, making her the highest-paid coach in women’s college basketball history.
Since joining South Carolina in 2008, Staley has transformed the program into a powerhouse, securing three national championships (2017, 2022, and 2024) and six Final Four appearances. Under her leadership, the Gamecocks achieved a perfect 38–0 season in 2024.
Staley expressed her gratitude, stating, “I’m proud to represent the University of South Carolina and of its investment in women’s basketball… I look forward to continuing to be an example of how an investment in women’s basketball is one that will pay off for everyone.”
This extension not only underscores Staley’s exceptional contributions but also reflects the university’s commitment to the continued success of its women’s basketball program.
