Whenever you have 15 national championships won between two legendary women's basketball coaches, tensions are bound to rise. On Friday, No. 1 South Carolina ended No. 1 UConn's hopes of a national title repeat, knocking off the Huskies 62-48 in the Final Four.

But things got quite heated between UConn head coach Geno Auriemma and the Gamecocks' head coach Dawn Staley. After the game, the two got into it during the postgame handshake

Both coaches were asked about what happened in their postgame pressers, but there wasn't much clarity on what went down between the two.

One incredible video that did emerge from the heated exchange however was Coach Staley being her true authentic self. One reporter on-site in Phoenix caught Staley saying audibly to her assistant coaches who were trying to hold her back "I will beat Geno's a--". The video is absolutely a must-see:

Look obviously head coaches going toe-to-toe after a game is something no one wants to see, especially with how many more eyeballs are on the women's game and tournament in recent years, including 2026. And no, I am not going to ever advocate for fisticuffs in any situations, even when things escalate.

But if we can be real for a second, you can't be surprised that Staley—a native of Philadelphia, Penn.—is ready to throw down if she needs to.

And it obviously goes without saying that surely Staley probably didn't actually mean that she would be willing to get into a physical altercation with Auriemma, who is 72 years old and almost 20 years older than Staley.

But sometimes you can take the coach out of Philly but you can't take the Philly out of Coach Staley.

Honestly, this is just a small example of what makes Staley so great, and one of the realest coaches in the game.
