The ripple effects of South Carolina landing star guard Jordan Lee from Texas appear to have already begun. Just a day after head coach Dawn Staley landed the former Longhorns guard, another target has removed her name from the transfer portal.
On Friday, Virginia star guard Kymora Johnson officially removed her name from the portal and confirmed she would be returning to the Cavaliers. She confirmed the return via a post on her Instagram.
Johnson reportedly took a visit to South Carolina last week, although there appears to be no official sighting of her on campus.

Cavalier fans are likely thrilled with her return to Charlottesville. A three-year starter for Virginia, Johnson is coming off of her best season yet, averaging 19.5 points per game with 4.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game last season.
She helped fuel a surprise run for the Cavaliers in this year's tournament, making it all the way to the Sweet 16.
While Staley landing both Johnson and Lee from the portal would have been nice, it's certainly not a necessity for the Gamecocks in 2026-27. And I wouldn't be surprised if Staley isn't quite done in the portal this cycle, either.
Johnson ending up playing for Staley, a UVA hops legend in her own right, would have been a neat way to end her career. But Virginia fans can be relieved one of their hometown stars is staying home.
We'll see who South Carolina targes via the portal next, with Johnson's announcement she is staying put.
