She didn't just take over the game; she took over the season. Gamecock Nation yelled with excitement. We hit refresh on social media. Some of us cried. Others just stared in disbelief. Because as we all watched A'ja Wilson close out the 2025 WNBA Finals, it felt like witnessing inevitability unfold in real time. Wilson earned Finals MVP. She carried her team to the title. Las Vegas Aces swept the Phoenix Mercury.
When the final buzzer sounded, it wasn't just Las Vegas celebrating. From Columbia to every corner of Gamecock Nation, the world stopped to honor one of their own: A'ja Wilson, the face of the WNBA, the heart of South Carolina, and now the queen of a dynasty. The Las Vegas Aces swept the Phoenix Mercury 97-86 on Friday night, claiming their third championship in four years.

Before she was the most dominant player in women's basketball, she was just a Columbia girl with a big dream. One that South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley believed in, the one who brought the Gamecocks their first national championship, the one who made "We Are Carolina" mean something new.
Just landed in Paris and just got the results of the @WNBA finals. @_ajawilson22 and @LVAces have done it again! Congrats A! I don’t think anyone has built the type of resume you have. God just keeps on blessing you! You wear Him well! Deserved rest loading!

Now, she's doing the same for the WNBA. Three titles. Two Finals MVPs. Two league MVPs Multiple Defensive Player of the Year award. Wilson is also the first player ever, NBA or WNBA, to win the scoring title, league MVP, Defensive Player of the Year award and Finals MVP. Her dominance, her consistency, and her leadership make a compelling case that Wilson may be the greatest player in WNBA history. For Gamecock Nation, there's no debate. A'ja Wilson is the standard.
Congratulations to the WNBA champs — @LVAces and MVP A'ja Wilson — on their third title! https://t.co/adhyktbUrT
