The WNBA postseason is finally here, and we had four games tip off on Sunday in the first round. The games saw several former Gamecocks suit up, hoping to lead their teams to strong Game 1 performances.
We'll start with the Las Vegas Aces, who earned a 102-85 Game 1 win over the Indiana Fever. The Aces were powered offensively by star A'ja Wilson, who finished with a whopping 38 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks on the day. She also shot 79% from the floor, missing on just four of her shots the whole game.
“She understands the stakes always," Wilson's head coach, Becky Hammon, said of her player after the game. "She was a clinic tonight. She was, I mean, it was all over. She was all over the court, every way,” Aces coach Becky Hammon said of Wilson. “Defensive end, offensive end, blocks, steals, boards, scoring. I mean, there was nothing she couldn’t do tonight.”

The Aces defense held the Indiana's Fever offense to shoot just 45% from the floor. Former Gamecock Aliyah Boston led the Fever with 18 points and eight rebounds on the night. Despite the loss, it was also a breakout performance for rookie Raven Johnson, who added 14 points, including a three-pointer.
Game 2 will tip off on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. ET, as the series goes to Indiana.

Elsewhere in the W on Sunday, the Atlanta Dream got a 92-77 victory over the Washington Mystics. The Dream were helped offensively by former Gamecock Allisha Gray, who had 22 points with three rebounds in the win. Atlanta's leader was Rhyne Howard, who had 26 points in the victory. Angel Reese added 13 points and 12 rebounds in her first postseason game of her career.
“A good way to start the series, but we know we have to get another win,” Dream Head coach Karl Smesko said after the game on Sunday. “That’s what we plan to do.”
Game 2 is set for Wednesday, set for a 7 p.m. ET tip in Washington, D.C.
In the third game of the WNBA playoffs that featured former South Carolina players, the Golden State Valkyries beat Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings 104-80. Cecilia Zandalasini scored 22 points with Gabby Williams adding 20 more in the victory. Former Gamecock Laeticia Amihere played six minutes, but did not score any points. She added one rebound.
Bueckers added 21 points and was nine-for-10 shooting, but it wasn't enough against the Golden State high-powered offense. Bueckers added six rebounds in the loss.
The Wings will look to rebound against the Valkyries at home for Game 2, with tip-off set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
