South Carolina Football Offseason Autopsy, Offensive Superlatives:
Offensive Most Outstanding Player

Spencer Rattler might be the Offensive MVP, but Xavier Legette can’t be left out. The senior wide receiver is the team’s Offensive Most Outstanding Player.

Despite missing about a full game’s worth of action and playing much of the season banged up with minor injuries, Legette was a monster on the outside for the Gamecocks.

The Mullins, South Carolina native emerged as Rattler’s biggest weapon this season, and he dominated in a variety of ways. The deep ball was the most dangerous connection between #7 and #17, but Legette also had success catching the ball over the middle of the field and had some good plays in the quick game, as well.

XL made some history this fall, as well.

Legette put up the 2nd-most receiving yards of any player in South Carolina football history (only trailing Alshon Jeffery’s 2010 season), and he set a new USC record for most 175-yard performances in a season and in a career.

As was deserved, Xavier Legette was a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award as one of the top-10 receivers in the country, and he was a unanimous All-SEC contributor. The Reese’s Senior Bowl named him one of their All-Americans (seniors only), and he has a chance to be taken in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Xavier Legette was the 2023 Offensive MOP.
