South Carolina Basketball vs. Morgan State:
Thumbs Up

It was obvious that Dawn Staley was not happy with her team after the Gamecocks’ two-game stretch against North Carolina and Duke. Some “extra-curricular” activity from Raven Johnson, Kamilla Cardoso, and Ashlyn Watkins in those two games resulted in Sakima Walker and Tessa Johnson getting the start against Morgan State. Coach Staley acknowledged after the game that the issue was “disciplinary” but “over.” On the court, the Gamecocks also moved on from their slow offensive performances against the two blue rivals from the north. USC scored 104 points and hit 13-17 free throws, a big improvement from their recent numbers. Every Gamecock shot 50% or better from the field, and five players had at least 3 assists. Of the 10 players who scored for the garnet and black, they all scored at least 6 points.. . South Carolina Gamecocks. MOVING ON FROM TOBACCO ROAD . Thumbs Up

JUMP SHOOTING . Thumbs Up. The Gamecocks continue to shoot the ball well from behind the 3-point arc. Bree Hall shot 3-4 from outside for the third straight game, Tessa Johnson and Raven Johnson both shot 2-2, and Te-Hina Paopao shot 2-4. The Gamecocks also took a fair amount of midrange shots, converting those at a high rate, as well. 7 middies swished the nets at Colonial Life Arena, including multiple from both Tessa Johnson and Sania Feagin.. . BENCH PRODUCTIVITY . Thumbs Up. Dawn Staley’s South Carolina basketball team didn’t start their typical lineup due to minor disciplinary action, but the product on the court didn’t look much different. Sakima Walker didn’t score, but Tessa Johnson led all scorers as she started the first game of her career. Raven Johnson and Kamilla Cardoso played well off the bench, and MiLaysia Fulwiley and Sania Feagin scored in double-figures.. . South Carolina Gamecocks
