After a wild day of transfer portal news for the Gamecocks, South Carolina football fans might be having trouble keeping straight which players are planning to make a move and which ones aren’t.

To recap:

EDGE/Linebacker Donovan Westmoreland was the first player whose name emerged as a potential defection from the program.

Two reserve quarterbacks, Tanner Bailey and Colten Gauthier, are also planning on leaving the team (and possibly the sport of football altogether).

Star wide receiver Juice Wells, who missed most of 2023 with an injury, appears to be on his way out and, based on his social media activity, is in for a big NIL payday at his next stop.

A surprising transfer is likely from starting kicker Mitch Jeter.

Wide receiver Landon Samson, who was away from the team at times this season, will also be jumping into the portal.

A trio of reserves announced their departures all in the late afternoon as backup defensive linemen Felix Hixon and D’Andre Martin and wide receiver Kylic Horton were reported as future transfers.

Now, a fourth Gamecock receiver will be exiting the South Carolina football program.

It was reported by Chris Clark of GamecockCentral on early Friday morning that O’Mega Blake would be leaving the program, as well. Blake, who had the third-most yards of any Gamecock wide receiver in 2023, was a redshirt sophomore. His top performance in garnet and black came against Georgia when he caught 5 passes for 86 yards early in the 2023 campaign.

After Juice Wells’ departure, Blake was set to return as the player with the most receiving yards in the wide receiver room. Now, with the Rock Hill native also on his way out of town, true freshman 5-star Nyck Harbor holds that honor heading into next season.

More transfer portal news could be coming for the South Carolina football program over the next few days leading up to the portal’s official opening on Monday.
