South Carolina Basketball vs. North Carolina:
Thumbs Down

Thumbs Down. The Gamecocks did not shoot the ball well on Thursday as a team. Outside shots were falling, though they didn’t take many. However, inside the arc, the Gamecocks went 14-45, including 7-17 on shots at the rim. Bree Hall went 2-2 and Ashlyn Watkins went 4-8 on 2-point shots, but every other Gamecock shot under 50% on attempts inside the 3-point line.. . South Carolina Gamecocks. 2-POINT SHOOTING

Thumbs Down. Other than Ashlyn Watkins (10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block in 18 minutes), the South Carolina basketball bench was non-existent. The other 5 Gamecocks went scoreless, grabbed 0 rebounds, dished out 0 assists, stole the ball 0 times, and had 1 block over a combined 22 minutes. A six-player rotation can’t happen every night, so the bench unit has to be better and earn more playing time for the Gamecocks moving forward.. . South Carolina Gamecocks. NO BENCH

South Carolina Gamecocks. REBOUNDING . Thumbs Down. In an abnormal performance, the Gamecocks did not rebound the ball well. USC lost the rebounding battle to North Carolina 39-45. Kamilla Cardoso and Raven Johnson combined for 23 of those 39 boards, and Carolina gave up two double-digit rebounding performances to the Tar Heels and 4 players in the home whites grabbed at least 6 balls off the glass. Knowing Dawn Staley, the Gamecocks will be better next time out in the rebounding department..
