South Carolina Basketball: Cheap tickets, free concessions for upcoming games
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina basketball fans showed up in a big way on Tuesday night as their Gamecocks beat Notre Dame in the first-ever ACC/SEC Challenge to bring their season record to 6-0. The fans were loud and made a difference in the game.
It was an environment that the Gamecock players have been hoping to have, and it seems like the program is offering even more incentive for fans to keep showing up.
During the Notre Dame contest, the South Carolina basketball program advertised that they would be offering some free concessions during five December home games, four for Lamont Paris’ men’s basketball squad and one for Dawn Staley’s team (who typically have no issues attracting larger crowds).
The five free concessions games will be against Presbyterian College on December 16th (women’s game at 1:00), Charleston Southern on December 16th (men’s game at 6:00), Winthrop on December 19th (men’s game at 7:00), Elon on December 22nd (men’s game at 6:00), and Florida A&M on December 30th (men’s game with time TBA).
The only detail advertised so far about the free concessions (there are sure to be quantity limits) is that no alcohol or specialty items will be given for free.
Making those games even more affordable is the fact that the tickets are really cheap. Through the secondary ticket market (including a link to TicketMaster.com that was provided at the arena on Tuesday), tickets for all of those games are under $10 right now.
Both South Carolina basketball teams are undefeated right now, and fans should head to Colonial Life Arena whether concessions are free or not.
Lamont Paris’ men’s squad is 6-0 and will be favored in every out-of-conference game on their schedule but one (on the road against Clemson), and Dawn Staley’s women’s team looks like a national championship contender at 5-0 with a border battle against North Carolina on Thursday.
