Dawn Staley’s South Carolina basketball team broke some records on Black Friday.

Not only did the Gamecocks score 100 points for the 4th time in 5 games (the first time they’ve ever done that in any 5 game stretch in program history), but they also held the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes to just 19 points over the entire game.

Those 19 points are a program record for the fewest points allowed in a single game. The 82-point margin of victory is also a South Carolina basketball record.

It was a well-rounded effort by Dawn Staley’s team on Friday. For the game, 7 Gamecocks were in double-figures (MiLaysia Fulwiley, Kamilla Cardoso, Te-Hina Paopao, Sania Feagin, Ashlyn Watkins, Chloe Kitts, and Raven Johnson), and 8 players had at least 5 rebounds (Cardoso, Paopao, Watkins, Kitts, Johnson, Feagin, Sahnya Jah, and Sakima Walker).

As a team, Carolina blocked 15 shots and forced 18 turnovers, one less than the total points the Devilettes were able to score.

The win moved the Gamecocks to 5-0 (a record they share with their men’s basketball counterparts). South Carolina basketball has not lost a regular-season game in regulation (they lost in overtime to Missouri in 2022) since February of 2021.
