South Carolina Football players who might not return in 2024:
The Young Quarterbacks

Since true freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers arrived on campus and ascended the depth chart, it has become apparent that he is the young quarterback on the roster most likely to start next year when Spencer Rattler departs for the NFL.

After spring practice, Braden Davis entered the transfer portal and ended up at Syracuse. It would only make sense if one or two more young quarterbacks follow suit.

4-star prospect Dante Reno will be joining the program in the 2024 recruiting class, Luke Doty could stay in Columbia for two more years as a backup quarterback and wide receiver, and Sellers is all but penciled in as the starter for next year.

That leaves Colten Gauthier and Tanner Bailey as the odd men out in the quarterback room. Both players seem to enjoy Columbia, but if they have any plans to play football, it seems a lot more reasonable that the playing time would have to come at another school.

A quarterback room that started with six scholarship players during spring practice likely will have at least three of them (Davis, Rattler, and Bailey/Gauthier) no longer with the team by next year’s spring practice.
